Dears and Deer
I recently discovered that another author I frequently read is on LJ *squeee* Barbara Hambly is here as ![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
barbara_hambly. She writes fantasy and mysteries set in other times like ancient Rome and 1830s New Orleans. She also wrote Ishmael, one of my all-time favorite Star Trek TOS novels where she crossed ST with "Here Come the Brides" of all things and, most importantly, she made it work! It was a book I kept reading over and over the first few months I owned it and even today I'll re-read it once a year or so.
From the wonderful world of animals I bring news of a unicorn deer and Jet/Bambi, another deer (well actually a fawn) being raised by humans after he was found as a newborn near his mother's body after she was hit by a car. I still remember the sad ending of The Yearling and hope this one has a better fate.
