(no subject)

I was watching "Countdown" last night and Keith Olberman did a segment on Pat Robertson's warning to Dover,Pa. (read here). Whenever I come across nonsense like that I think of what Dureena Nafeel said in "Ruling from the Tomb" ep 1.6 of "B5: Crusade":

"You know, on my world, it was considered a great evil to even presume to speak on behalf of the Universe!"

That about sums it up for me--he's presumptuous and evil.

A Favorite Fic: Brothers in Arms (S/X)

Brothers in Arms by [livejournal.com profile] poshcat takes place at the first post-"Chosen" Christmas. A hungry and penniless Xander sneaks into the seemingly empty offices of W&H where he's surprised by Spike. They're actually glad to see each other and end up playing a friendly game of cards for more than just money. It's the start of a beautiful friendship but I believe BiA is a one-shot. Poshcat's writing is superb and her sense of humor is very much in evidence. A fabulous read any time of the year.

Great Archive Style

I was just over at All About Spike and it occured to me that it's probably the finest archive site that I've encountered in my 4 years of trawling the Buffyverse-on-the-Web for fanfics. I'm not talking about content (though it has a lot of great stories) but about format. It's easy to navigate and to read and you can change the type size easily. The fics have been categorized by title, author, pairing, episode (this is particularly unusual), rating, length, date and theme. There's also a couple of fic search pages available. It contains nearly 1000 stories and must have taken a tremendous amount of hard work. Unfortunately the archivist is "no longer updating this site very often due to lack of interest in Buffy fandom". Huh?? Anyway if anyone is thinking about creating an archive site they should take a look at All About Spike.
