Last night's episode of "Without a Trace" titled "Check Your Head" was delightful. The case was about Rachel, an agoraphobic who disappeared and foul play was suspected. It turns out that she was in love with her assistant Hilary and wanted to make things right between Hilary and Hilary's dad. So she gathered her courage and left her apartment for the first time in 2 years and went to see the father, then went to the bowling alley where her trauma began. There Malone finds her and the dialogue goes something like this: she says "I don't know how to be a lesbian" and he replies "I don't know either" (lol). He talks her out of her hiding place, she ends up kissing Hilary and no one bats an eye. Later she and Hilary are both embraced by Hilary's dad, the mob boss. It was such a sweet ep and I can just picture the outrage in the so-called heartland.

A friend sent me this link to an amusing site Swami Beyondananda where he delivers a State of the Universe Address using words and phrases like "shift happens", "babblum" (strained bullshit made digestible for a simple child's mind), "Iraqi Horror Picture Show" and saying things like "In 2005, Americans had to face the sad realization that the Bush Administration's 'pro-life' stance appears to be limited to the unborn and the brain-dead." All in all a funny yet sad (after all he is describing the state of our country) article.

I've seen a few episodesof 'Without A Trace' and enjoyed it very much - unfortunately it's aired at an inconvenient time for me and I tend to forget that it's on at all. I was very impressed by Anthony LaPaglia - he puts in a terrific, believable preformance.

It reminds me somewhat of 'Cold Case', another show that I catch now and again, but that I've now managed to get my husband interested in, so there's a greater chance of me actually seeing more or it in the future as he's likely to want to tune in :)

One of my favourite shows is 'Law and Order - Criminal Intent'. I adore Vincent D’Onofrio, he's a wonderful actor and such a joy to watch.

Sometimes I find the vast amount of knowledge that Goren reveals to be a bit too unbelievable but I watch it when I can. I think all the L&O shows are good. "Cold Case" is also a dependable show and sometimes has the most gorgeous soundtracks.

Yup, I get that. I think he reminds me a lot of my eldest daughter - she's nearly 12 and has Asperger's Syndrome (higher-spectrum autism) and when she was nine years old we were told that she had an IQ of around 150. We used to think that she was imagining things when she told us that she remembered vividly being 2 years old until she *told* us things that we knew happened. Her psychologist told us that she's more or less got a photographic memory, and so the details that she picks up on and remembers are things that I'd never notice in a million years.

Vincent obviously did some research on his character and I honestly believe that he's based at least a part of it on someone who is gifted in that way - some of his mannerisms and his logic are identical to my daughters and some other autistic kids that I know. The first time I watched it I turned to my husband and said "He's an Aspie!". *laughs*

Of course I could be seeing something that's not really there - but I like to believe the character is possibly autistic, that's kinda cool ;)

I recall that there's some sort of back story with Goren's mom being in a hospital or sanitorium so maybe, whatever it is, runs in the family and Goren has it to a lesser degree allowing him to function so well in the real world. I think it would actually be nice if eventually they said that it was a form of Aspergers, revealing to the general public that it's not a something to be afraid of.
