I love Mary Stewart's books. I just googled her and I think she's still alive but hasn't written anything since '97 :(

The Time Traveller's Wife is on my list of "books to read when I have the time" which will probably be the 12th of Never *sigh*

As I replied to hillbillie above: over the years I think I've read most of it. I've had to stop and cool off after reading sections dealing with rape and slaughter and the treatment of women - it really is a very violent, horrifying book in places.
