RIP

I just heard that Arthur C. Clarke passed away at age 90. He was the author of the short story that was turned into "2001: A Space Odyssey" plus countless other works. I've read most of his fiction and non-fiction books over the years including one of my favorites, The Nine-Billion Names of God. He was the last of the trio of great science fiction writers of the 20th century along with Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein and he will be missed. Requiescat in pace.

On a different note - we're striking on Friday by not posting or commenting that day to protest LJ's latest moves. Read more about it here.

ETA: OTH liz_marcs has made some valid points regarding the strike here so who knows what I'll end up doing.

The no posting thing is stupid as LJ doesn't give a crap if you post or not as they don't make money by your posts they make money if you pay for you LJ and extra user pics along with merchandise. If you don't post they don't care because they don't refund you any money if your dissatisfied its a no refund policy.

As long as you renew your paid lj in one year they make money.

Its futile to do a no post strike as it would only hurt them if they made money by the post. LOL

Besides that russian mofia thing seemed strange to me. I read the whole post and felt like I wasted my time it made no sense and what the heck to I care about that interview for.. it doesn't effect me at all.
