A Favorite Fic: Twilight Time (S/X)

I just adore Shadow's Twilight Time. It's a beautifully well-written story which is to be expected as she's a professionally published author of fantasy.
It's the tale of 2 damaged people helping each other. Set in an AU S4, Spike comes across Xander who's been hurt by his father. He takes Xander to his place and slowly Xander heals under his care and Spike becomes more attached to him. They slowly move to consummate their attraction to each other made harder by the chip which Xander finally figures out how to disable. The story is full of humor, some angst and lovely bits like the confession in the closet, the knifeplay, the Xmas prezzies, Leng Chi, a sweet Tara and Willow, an actually helpful Angel and touch of Buffy-bashing. All in all I found it believable that the Xander of canon could fall for Spike in this manner and vice versa.
It's a nice long (28 chapters + epilogue) story that was one of the first Spander fics I encountered and it almost wasn't finished!! Apparently there was such a nasty rant at Nummytreats that for months Shadow couldn't write. Her friends helped her to rally and complete it. Ever since I discovered that bad feedback could do that I've been so careful with my comments (if you can't say something nice...). She says she's working on a sequel but is reluctant to post it chapter by chapter and we may just have to wait until it's completed to see it--grr argh.
I can prove I truly love "TT" because I actually splurged and bought the fanzine version of it complete with a follow-up story set in before-Katarina New Orleans. If you haven't read it and would like a delightful warming-the-cockles-of-your-heart story please go read it.

God, I ADORE that story. It is one of my all time favorites and one of the few stories I reread regularly.

We could get into an adoring contest lol. "No I adore it more than you." "No I adore her the mostest." Suffice it to say that my review doesn't really do TT justice. Every Spander fan should read it and I think even non-Spander fans could appreciate it as I was a newbie when I first read it. It was love at first read and helped draw me further into this lovely world of Spander.

Yup, that's one of our favourites too. :)
