Last Night's Television

Well it appears that the Milton Fine/Brainiac (James Marsters) story arc is finished on "Smallville" which means I probably won't watch it any more. Last night they introduced Jimmy Olsen as working at The Daily Planet, seemingly the same age as Clark Kent. Now back in the day when I was reading the comic books Jimmy Olsen was the young cub reporter and Clark Kent was the older, experienced chief reporter. Jimmy Olsen should be a freckle-faced kid running around with Lana's kid sister Lucy. Comic book canon is so easily ignored even by the people who create it which is one of the reasons I gave up reading comic books years ago.

I know that a lot of people out there love "Supernatural" and I must admit that the leads are incredibly handsome but the show is a throwback to the early days of television when women were either victims or villainesses. Few, if any, of John's colleagues that the boys have encountered are female. The show, for all the eye-candy, leaves me feeling excluded as if demon-hunting was exclusively a male perogative and best left to the menfolk. I had enough of that sort of mindset on TV shows when I was a kid so I'll continue to be only an occasional viewer of the show.

Steven DeKnight said on the QM that they wanted to kill of Ma Kent instead of Pa Kent. I felt quite shocked! Messing with canon like that...quite horrifying really. He's a nice bloke though but I wanted to tell him grrrr. And it bugs the life outtov me on Smallville that the current Lana doesn't have red hair and Ma Kent does. They should be able to change thing a leetle bit, but not the big things or it spoils it for peeps. James always used to say that continuity was neither here nor there, but that is one thing I think he is majorly wrong about. Peeps luf continuity, it makes the genre world go round. :) I bet their Jimmy Olsen won't have red hair neither nor freckles *tisks*

My sister and I enjoy Supernatural but it's just horrorfluff; quite enjoyable though. :) Except that girl in that picture dragging that doll about, that freaked the heck outta me *shivers*

No apologies needed - it happens to all of us.
I didn't notice freckles and though his hair was slightly reddish (or it could just be my set) it certainly wasn't orange.
If you hear that JM will return let me know because then I will watch it.

I don't think he'll be returning any time soon Shak. He'll be too busy filming in Ireland and NY. If you hear he's in the City get to the spot quick!!! :D Tell him Ditto said hello. ;)

I think that's why they altered the storyline and all that scene in the last series that time, because he'd have to be written out if he's doing all this filming. I can't wait to see it and now with all this publicity Shadow Puppets might get put out there as well. Yay. :D
