BtVS News

I was over at Ain't It Cool News and they had an item on the new Buffy comic book series. The most important news IMO is that Buffy was NEVER involved with the Immortal - the blonde girl Angel and Spike glimpsed in Rome was a decoy (I'm sure the smoky, crowded bar also made it impossible for them to scent it wasn't her). Also Anya is back in some form, Xander now leads slayer command central in Scotland and the US government believes Buffy was responsible for the destruction of Sunnydale and so has labeled her army of slayers a terrorist group!

I like the idea of Anya being back and of Xander having a leading role. Sounds great. :D

I think someone said they would post a synopsis as each comic came out - I hope they will do that as I'm curious since the comics might be considered canon.

Crowded, smoky bar? Possibly. But both Spike and Angel were actually in "Buffy's" non-crowded, non-smoky apartment. Does he seriously think that the vampire who was able to track her all over Sunnydale to the house she comandeered in Touched couldn't tell that it wasn't really Buffy living in the apartment in Rome? The mind boggles.

It says that "Buffy may never have been to Italy" but that doesn't rule out that she was in Rome and had an apartment just that she wasn't at that bar. Or Andrew, who was clearly part of the plot, may have brought her clothes and stuff to make it seem like she was there. We'll find out eventually.

OH Holy Crap!!!! Never involved with the Immortal??!!! If you watch the episode they were told she was dating the Immortal. God I hate when they make lame plot choices like that. Why didn't they just have her leave the Immortal or even bring in into the picture for few issues then boot him out or Kill him off some how. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
Yay that Anya is back as I always liked her character and cried when she was killed.
Xander deserves to run Slayer central command. Good for him.

The US goverment is just sore that she could expose the Initiative and beat them at their own game several times.

It seems to me that it might be some sort of plot "supervised" by Andrew (possibly with Dawn's help) with a decoy Buffy in Rome who everyone (US Intelligence included) believes is the real Slayer while Buffy is off doing something else - after all the only info we have of post-Chosen Buffy comes from Andrew.
I guess we'll find out what's really up when the comic comes out *sigh*
