riters_r_us. Apparently the Washington Post has a yearly neologism contest and the winners have been announced. My favorite is:
#2. Flabbergasted (adj.), appalled over how much weight you have gained.
The Post's Style Invitational also asked readers to take any word from the dictionary and alter it by adding, subtracting or changing one letter and supply a new definition. My favorites are:
1.Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
5. Sarchasm (n): The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
14. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out. (that's happened to me)
16. Ignoranus (n): A person who's both stupid and an a--hole.

The other day I did a post on the old custom of Chinese feet-binding. As a BtVS fan I wonder what would happen if a century or so ago, when the custom was still practiced, a lady with such feet was turned (she certainly would be easy prey). Would she be able to regain her normal feet when turned or would she spend her existence stuck with her misshapen feet which would certainly make her stand out ( pun intended *g*) in this day and age?
