I came across this post on feministe about Lakshmi, a little girl in India born with 4 extra limbs and what this means in light of the anti-choice belief that life begins at conception. Lakshmi's extra limbs are actually the remnants of her twin. If each fetus has a unique soul, does Lakshmi now have 2 souls? Nature commits more abortions (miscarriages) than humans and the debate is far more complex than anti-choice advocates would like to admit.

I found Free Rice via [profile] wisteria_where you take a vocabulary quiz and for each correct answer they will donate 10 grains of rice through the United Nations to help end world hunger. It's rather addictive and I got up to 700 grains before I had to quit to do other things

Today on the 6th of January I was walking around outside and going places in my lovely velvet shirt and no coat as it was 68 degrees!! In January!! Where's winter? Where's Jack Frost? No one's nipping at my nose. This freakish weather may not be caused by global warming but it is a hint of what might come if we don't change our ways.

I was thinking about the only movie I ever saw at a critic's sneak preview. The movie was called "Orlando" and was based on a story by Virginia Woolf. It was about a young nobleman who's commanded by Queen Elizabeth I to stay forever young and as he exists through the centuries he even changes sex and one day encounters Shelmerdine another immortal. I wonder if one of these beings could have become involved with Buffy and the Fanged Four?

The other day the New York Times had an interesting article saying there were Fewer Excuses for Not Doing a PC Backup. I often read about people on my flist and elsewhere losing all sorts of important data when their computer crashes and I thought I'd pass the link on.

Maybe everyone else knows about this but yesterday I stumbled onto LJ Seek which is a LiveJournal Search Engine and more convenient than using major search engines. I'm hoping it will prove especially useful in BtVS fanfic hunting.

Every once in a while I'll come across a post on lj by someone who wants to de-clutter and get rid of some unwanted books. I came across a couple of links in case anyone now has a pile of unwanted books lying around. I gave away all my unwanted books last summer to my library so at the moment I have none to donate to these good causes *sigh*
