I probably won't boycott the WB as the movie division is separate from the TV division but it makes me so mad that the guy considers "The Brave One" and "The Invasion" to be women's movies and that the reason they didn't take in the big bucks was simply that they had women as the leads, not that they were lousy movies and would have been so even with males as the leads.
When I was a kid there were all these male buddy buddy TV series with no women regulars. Women were there usually for one ep for the hero to fall in love with and often die tragically at the end. I mean all of Ben Cartwright's wives died as did Little Joe's, Captain Kirk lost Edith Keeler and Miramanee and there were countless other shows in the same vein. These shows made me, as a female, feel left out and that's how "Supernatural" makes me feel - all the women are unimportant. Supposedly they're adding a new female character named Ruby (she of the demon-killing knife) and so I'll watch and see how they'll make use of her. My other problem is that I've been watching Jensen Ackles since "Days of Our Lives" and he's almost too pretty.
I love science fiction but here's so little good science fiction on TV - most of the stuff on the SciFi channel is drek. Aside from anthology series the only shows I've truly loved have been "Doctor Who", the original "Star Trek", "Blake's 7", "Alien Nation" and Babylon 5". The rest can vanish into oblivion as far as I'm concerned and unless they have vampires I'm not very keen on fantasy either. I'm picky, picky, picky (to quote the late Billy deWolfe)*g*
