It rained heavily this morning but then it turned bright and sunny and I decided to take a walk in Central Park. I saw two strange birds flying around and at first thought they were a couple of those wild parrots that I've read about but it turned out they were Red-Front Macaws and belonged to this man who'd take them for flights in the park the way others take their dogs for walks and let them run free for awhile. Their names were Otis & Gizmo and they'd soar around him and either land on him or a nearby tree. Once one of them landed on my head and all I could think of was that old nursery rhyme:
Little birdie in the sky
Why'd you drop that in my eye?
I'm a nice little girl and I won't cry
But I'm sure glad elephants don't fly.
Fortunately the macaw was well behaved *g*. I'm still amazed that they'd return to him and not fly away. The things you see in Central Park aka Manhattan's backyard.
