Where Did My Vacation Go??
Aug. 25th, 2006 11:21 amWell I'm back in NYC pondering the effects of time. I swear it was like I was picked up at the airport in Fargo and the next thing I know I'm in the car going back to the airport even though I know 2 weeks passed and a lot happened. The Dem Summerfest was a lot of fun and went reasonably smoothly though the year CM was in charge and I was her aide-de-camp we remembered to bring forks!! It wasn't easy eating salad and stuff with spoons *g*.
As I wrote earlier CM and I have been friends since we were 5. When I got off the plane in Fargo for the first time in '98 we picked things up right away though we hadn't seen each other in a decade or so. She's my sister-by-choice.
I like her husband the Prof for his childlike sense of wonder and curiousity about the world and his very dry sense of humor. We bonded this time over the awful Willliam Shatner roast on Comedy Central and the Mormon ep of "South Park" (which if the events were even semi-accurately depicted proves, as David Hannum, not P.T. Barnum [thanks History Buff] said, "There's a sucker born every minute."). When they were married his mother said to CM's stepmom that "isn't it nice that 2 such strange people found each other." I like to think there's hope for us all.
When I left her dog Dusty had hives all over his body which the vet said he may have gotten either by being stung or having eaten a wasp. He's now on Prednisone so if he were a human athlete he'd fail the drug test. The hives made lumps under his short fur - if his coat was thicker we might not even have known about it. Poor Dusty - he was so funny looking poor thing.
Oh well back to reality.
