Lun Lun, TOS and Sarah Connor

Well there's been another panda baby born, this time at the Atlanta Zoo, to a panda named Lun Lun. See the newborn here.

There's a new TV series in the making called The Sarah Connor Chronicles dealing with John and Sarah Connor between T2 and T3. Odds are that Linda Hamilton won't be playing Sarah :( and as with all news coming out of Hollywood don't believe it until you actually see it.

Pratt

It's been said that Joss Whedon has declared that Spike/William's last name is Pratt supposedly in honor of William Henry Pratt aka Boris Karloff. Now in British slang (according to A Dictionary of Slang) prat means a fool, idiot or objectionable person. Originally meaning the buttocks. Not a very nice word for our boi. The other night I was re-reading Busman's Honeymoon by Dorothy L. Sayers with all those aristocratic names and I remembered I had a book called What's in a Name? Surnames of America by La Reina Rule and William K. Hammond. I dug it out and found:

 

Pratt (Eng.) r.w.Prat (O.F.) Meadowland; Praett (O.E.) Clever One. Shield: Silver background, three gold, black-centered diamonds on a black chevron; above it, a silver bird on each of 2 black discs, below it a silver clover leaf on a black disc.

 

Team up that Pratt with an aristocratic middle name like Templeton or Beresford or Devereaux and you have a name that should make our Spike/William proud.
