An ad for Circuit City has the best movie tie-in I've ever seen. A man and his two daughters stare at their upside-down car. He says something like "So am I hearing this right? A silver guy on a flying surfboard chased by a fire?" We then see a clip from the movie where the Silver Surfer is being pursued down the street by the Human Torch, turning the parked cars beneath them upside down. One of the daughters hands her dad a little Circuit City bag and says "Happy Father's Day".
I think that's what gets me about so many action movies - the heroes and villains in them make a huge mess and it's left for us ordinary folk to clean it up. So many times I've seen a fruit or flower stand run into by a fleeing or pursuing car, destroying it, which can mean that the owner loses everything, impoverishing his family, but do the destroyers, especially the heroes, ever go back and help to undo the damage or make restitution?
