The Sky is Falling...Again

Another crane has collapsed and crashed into a nearby building just a few blocks from where I'm typing this. There is one confirmed dead (the crane operator) and several others have been rushed to hospitals. The helicopters are buzzing like angry bees overhead. At the moment there are some 200 cranes in operation in Manhattan alone. Mayor Bloomberg has been pushing construction as a boost to the economy. There is too little oversight, too few inspectors. One crashing crane may be considered an accident, more than one is downright incompetence creating a sense that nothing should stand in the way of business certainly not something as annoying as following safety regulations that protect the public.
