More This and That
Dec. 17th, 2008 02:06 pmThere's an actor from Germany that I've admired for years who's just had an article written about him and his current character in Sunday's New York Times. I've kept my eye on Eric Braeden aka Hans Gudegast since the days of "The Rat Patrol" where he played Hauptmann Hans Dietrich, a man of honor caught, by an accident of birth, on a side without any honor. Other memorable roles (for me) was Roan Morgan in "The Mask of Sheba", Dr. Charles Forbin in "Colossus: the Forbin Prohect" and John Jacob Astor in "Titanic" (I wish there'd been a brief scene where he gallantly puts his young wife in a lifeboat). For the past 28 years he's been playing Victor Newman on "The Young and the Restless" in a role that was supposed to last for just three months but the character caught on. Considering that he still has a slight accent he's done very well for himself in a town that is still a bit xenophobic.
There's an indy movie coming out called Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Undead. In it an actor finds himself in the middle of a two thousand year old conspiracy that explains the connection between Shakespeare, the Holy Grail and some seriously sexy vampires. It turns out that the play was actually written by a master vampire named Theo Horace (Ventimiglia) and it's up to Julian to recover the Grail in order to reverse the vampire's curse... With music by Sean Lennon it sounds like a lot of fun.
Have you heard about the obviously unhinged couple who named their son Adolf Hitler Campbell? That poor boy is going to be teased unmercifully and probably will have to spend years with a shrink trying to undo the damage inflicted on him by his parents giving him that name.
