Our Great Black Hope
Jan. 23rd, 2009 10:18 pmOf all the recent photos of our new President this is my favorite. The look of wonder on the little boy's face is like the look we all have - we have a new president and with it a new era as Dubya retires to obscurity (unless one day he and his cronies will be up on charges for all the crimes they committed).
There was an article in Tuesday's New York Times titled Nation’s Many Faces in Extended First Family revealing the diversity of people in the Obamas' background and family ties including an ancestor from Ireland which somebody turned into the song There's No One as Irish as Barack O'Bama. They truly are a family of the 21st century.
Of course even with all the excitement about our new president I still haven't forgotten our Spike. Today in the Times there was an article on the funny place names in the UK titled No Snickering: That Road Sign Means Something Else where it was revealed there was a place in Kent called Pratts Bottom. I can't help wondering if Spike's aka William Pratt's family came from there.
