I just read your essay part one and can't wait to read part2 and 3. Nice job and really PAAWS sounds like great organization. We have laws for paws here in my town and they rescue abused and abandoned animals, find them new homes and spay and neuter them to keep the cat population under control. We have tons of abandoned homeless or street cats wandering around.
2 years ago they did a revitalization of the town and started Condemning blighted homes in the city. They found many of the blighted empty homes contained prides of Cats living in the homes as if they owned them. One house was home to over 120 stray cats. I know when you would drive by there would always be cats in the windows or on the porch in the summer time just sitting there looking out at the passing cars. It took 3 days and 25 volunteers to capture the cats before the wrecking ball was taken to the house. Most of the cats were saved but some were old and sickly and had to be put down as no one would adopt them for their age and physical problems due to the length of their homelessness. There were many wild cats who had to go through rehabilitation so that they could be adopted out but all in all 72 cats were placed in new loving homes.
These types of organizations make your heart feel good.
