I came across this article where apparently someone at Sony had decided to promote the release of their new God of War II game in Athens with a freshly slaughtered goat! This definitely falls into the category of what were they thinking (probably no brains were involved at all).
This is a bit more light-hearted. A short film featuring Marj Dusay (star of the infamous "Spock's Brain episode of "Star Trek") that had been made in 1967 has been posted. It shows what the creators thought life might be like in 1999. The makers predicted there would be "split second lunches, color-keyed disposable dishes, all part of the instant society of tomorrow. A society rich in leisure and taken-for-granted comforts." Well with microwave ovens we are able to cook food faster but where is all the promised leisure? *looks around for it*.
