One of the few SF movies I like, and considering how many SF movies there are it's not very many, is 1971's The Andromeda Strain starring Arthur Hill, James Olson and David Wayne and directed by Robert Wise. It was a neat little movie more cerebral than action-oriented. Now I read that it's going to be made into a 4-6 hour miniseries on A&E (read about it here). I just hope they don't simply pad with a lot of endless action sequences that's so prevalent these days to make it fit the extended time.  I'll probably give it a try when it comes on but I'm not anxiously counting down the days until it premieres.

It is a shame when they think they have to revamp something that is already wonderful in its simplicity.
A&E though does a good job with its remake mini series's. I hope for your sake its as good at the original.

Usually re-makes don't work. However I'm told that the new "Battlestar Galactica" is really terrific (we used to call the original Garbagestar Exlaxia *g*) so maybe there's hope. I just worry as to how they'll pad it out - thinking it over perhaps they'll add scenes in the village that's first affected by the AS. That probably won't be too bad. OTH they could add a romance to the plot which, knowing Hollywood, would probably be awful.
