(Cyber)space the Final Frontier

In yesterday's New York Times there was an article titled Nobody Knows the Tribbles He’s Seen about David Gerrold, author of the Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", one of my favorite episodes after "Journey to Babel" and "City on the Edge of Forever". Yes, that's right, I love "Babel" more than "City" because of the Spock, Sarek and Amanda family reunion.
Speaking of space, I was able to upload a customized layout at my new IJ (see here). I'm not in love with it as I find it a little too distracting but I won't be there that often. It was sort of a challenge to see if I could do it (I'm such a computer ignoramus). I've had my paid LJ account thanks to
lit_gal, for almost a year now but all I've accomplished is to collect 73 icons and a feline moodtheme. I would like to do something more but I truly love the way my Friends Page looks - it's clean, simple and as I have all my friends color-coded, it's easy to peruse. In my ignorance I don't know if there's a way to spiffy up my "front" page while keeping my Friends Page as is.
