I thought I was rather dense as I just didn't get the latest HSBC commercial with the lumberjack and the tree-hugger. Turns out I'm not the only one as related here. The ad is everywhere and the theme song has become so annoying to me that I instantly switch channels when the ad comes on which occasionally doesn't help as the ad is on the other channel too :( Also will someone please explain the latest Volksvagen ads featuring Brooke Shields?

The Volkswagen ads are saying that people only feel comfortable buying those van-type things when they have kids, so women are getting pregnant so they can buy cool German engineering.

The implication is that women should deliberately become pregnant simply so they can buy one? And if don't have kids forget about it? That sort of limits your market *stupid ad*
