I'm walking home the other day free associating when it occurs to me that Buffy's Immortal was none other than Mr Flint, a character from the "Star Trek TOS" episode "Requiem for Methuselah". He had been born in 3834 BC and after he was pierced in the heart in a battle, found he could not die. He was known to us as Johannes Brahms, Leonardo da Vinci, Solomon, Alexander the Great, Lazarus, Methuselah, Merlin and many others. One of the names he gave was Abramson so possibly he was using that when he met Buffy. I tried to see some of Buffy in Rayna but there was none so I must assume Buffy was not his ideal woman. The Immortal probably looked much younger before he left Earth and began to age. There's crossover potential there (unless it's already been done unbeknownst to me) - anyone know?

Buffy characters... as in the people from Buffy, not necessarily the girl Buffy.

I was thinking that since ME said zilch about the Immortal we are free to speculate. He could be a Highlander (I'd say Methos but he tended to remain in deep cover) or Conrad Nomikos from Roger Zelazny's This Immortal or some other skiffy character. It occurred to me that if a Buffy fanfic writer wanted to use him, then the background given by ST could flesh him out (though how he knows he died in 3834 BC causes me to doubt his veracity). I actually can picture Akharin (a younger James Daly) doing what he did to Angelus and Spike and satisfying Dru and Darla.
Wonder if we'll learn anything if/when those BtVS comics come out.
