Well they're remaking one of my favorite SF movies "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Keanu Reeves as Klaatu. I'll wait to see how the finished project turns out but I'm not very hopeful *sigh*
Also Eliza Dushku has just signed a talent deal with Fox. Wouldn't it be something since Fox apparently controls the rights to Faith and has Tim Minear under contract that they'd create a "Faith the Vampire Slayer" series? They could have as guest stars Nicholas Brendon, James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Juliet Landau, Mercedes McNab, Alexis Denisoff or any of the other fabulous actors/characters who appeared on either BtVS or Angel. I don't know if Joss Whedon's input or permission would be needed but I'd so much prefer a live action show to those crappy comics *another sigh*

BTVS characters or shows as Faith is the invention of Joss Whedon for BtVS and he still owns all the rights to BtVS as he is the creator. All Fox owns as far as I've read is the screen and production rights for all pre produced and productions to be produced BtVS/AtS productions. This means if he wants to do more live action BtVS he has to give them first dibs to produce and run the show through their company if they decline he can then try other means to have it produced and shown.
Joss is too smart a man with too much of himself in BtVS to ever have given the reins to Fox as they have fucked him over too too much in the past.
I really doubt a FtVS would ever come into play as they are all too old to now to take such youthful roles. I would imagine that she is going to do work with the shows fox is working on as she is going to be on a new show on fox called Nurses in the fall unless they changed its premiere date.

I know it's probably just a pipedream but I want to see my favorite characters again before they really are too old. The comic books just don't do it for me.

Date: 2007-09-04 11:13 pm (UTC)I have nothing against Keanu Reeves but I had such a crush on Michael Rennie/Klaatu way back when. Also I'm tired of all these remakes which are genrally worse than the originals. There's talk of another "Dune", "The Illustrated Man", "Escape to Witch Mountain" plus a re-do of the original "Star Trek" set at the Academy with young versions of our heroes including Zachary Quuinto playing Spock (I liked Klaatu but I loooved Leonard Nimoy/Spock so this is pretty upsetting). There's just so little original stuff coming out of Hollywood *sigh*.
