In Thursday's NY Times I came across an aticle about a site called Blurb which can make a hardcopy book out of a blog (for a price of course). I don't know if it would work with livejournal and ghod knows I haven't written anything that should be preserved for posterity--yet--but maybe someday. I'll keep it in mind.
