My Birthday
Jan. 9th, 2006 05:01 pmWell it's my birthday and like Jack Benny I'm 39 and holding. Tonight we commemorate my day with...leftovers! It's not as bad as it sounds. The first 2 nights we went out to eat then the following 3 nights we made a scrumptuous Cobb salad, then a mushroom and gorgonzola dish and finally last night when we celebrated my birthday (due to tonight being very hectic) we made chicken marsala so we have all these lovely dishes to eat up.
For presents I received books and the DVD of "Follow the Broccoli" an indie movie that is to bingo what, say, "Over the Top" is to arm wrestling *g*. The reason for this present is that one of my relatives has a bit part in it. When she reached a certain age she decided to try acting and has been in various local stage productions and has had bit parts and been an extra in a few movies. She was in the church scene at the funeral at the end of "The Perfect Storm" though I don't think you can see her. One day I plan to get hold of the director's cut and watch it on a humongous screen and maybe I'll be able to make her out. I was watching "Frontline: Diet Wars" on PBS a while back and there she was in the audience next to Steve Talbot, the correspondent. Her 3 daughters never know what she'll do next. She's such a wonderful example of aging gracefully and living life to the fullest.
As I grow older I always try to remember what Gertrude Stein wrote:
"We are always the same age inside."
